RRD X-Wing Y29
Our pure slalom sail featuring 4 cambers, dedicated to speed and racing! As the world of slalom racing continually changes, hours and hours of non stop research and development have gone into the X-Wing. For Y29 we introduce new sizes that fit better to the current rules and trends of slalom. A subtle change from a 7.0 to a 6.6 gives hugely improved performance when paired with the small size slalom boards, freeing the boards up to fly better, especially noticeable in choppy water. A change from 7.8 to 7.4 has a similar effect on the medium board, giving a higher top end range of the “medium” setup, without sacrificing much at the lower end. Further adjustments to the batten shaping profile give a touch more power, stability and drive throughout the range. Larger sizes remain high aspect ratio, which whilst optimised for fin, still allow competitive performance on foil, as proven at the PWA World Youth finals where the same production 8.4 X-Wing dominated both fin and foil disciplines to take a double win! So whether you are on fin or foil, chasing GPS speeds, racing friends or attacking the slalom course the X-wing is the dream partner.

RRD X-Wing Y28
The Y28 X-Wing continues to move forward in the ever evolving discipline of slalom racing and speed. New for Y28 we completely redesigned the medium wind sizes to optimise them for fin and foil, keeping the 7.8 and 7.0 up to date with current trends in the PWA racing world.
Last year we introduced a higher aspect outline and flatter profile in the larger sizes, designed to work great on both fin and foil. The results turned out to be really impressive particularly in the 8.4 size which whilst optimised for foil, worked amazingly well on fin. As foiling is pushing the limits even in the stronger winds, we set about applying the same concept to the smaller sails. The results again were great, with a better balance in the sail meaning it was faster than the Y27 version especially on fin. Now all the larger sizes from 9.0 to 7.0 feature this higher aspect outline, making them more efficient whether on fin or foil. The smaller sizes have been refined and with their neutral and controllable power, they naturally worked great whatever is under your feet. So whether its slalom racing, foil racing or speed, the Y28 X-Wing has you covered for everything.

RRD X-Wing Y27
Over 2 years in development the Y27 X-wing takes our racing program to new levels. Our team demanded more drive in the sail whilst keeping the excellent top end speed and control of the previous version. Firstly we flattened the entry into the sail and moved the draft back a fraction to help keep the fin loaded at the lower end and when sailing tight to the wind. We also modified the leech, tightening both the lower section and head, whilst opening the mid leech further. The lower section helped to further increase the drive in the sail, whilst the tighter head helped to keep the board under control in the most extreme gusts. Opening the mid leech kept the top end control and speed that everyone loved. In addition to this in the 2 new larger sizes 8.4 and 9.0, we drastically increased the aspect ratio, shortening the boom and increasing the luff length. This change was first tested purely for foiling, but we quickly found the benefits were huge even with a fin, increasing both speed and control. Overall the Y27 X-Wing offers big advances whether it’s the larger fin and foil hybrids or the smaller slalom/speed machines. For riders that want to go fast and win races.
